Deanston 2017 8 Year Old Decadent Drams 53% 70cl

This is Deanston's excellent Virgin Oak Finished bottling but offered in a cask strength version to celebrate Deanston's 60th anniversary year. Crafted from 100% Scottish barley and matured in ex-bourbon casks, it underwent a 12 month finishing period in American virgin oak casks, and was bottled with no added colour and un-chill filtered at cask strength of 60.7% for increased flavour intensity and texture.

Tasting Notes

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – Sweet vanilla and honey lead, followed by toasted oak and coconut perfectly balanced by notes of crisp orchard fruits and a touch of lemon zest. Cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of clove follow, with chamomile and fresh heather.

Palate – Rich notes of vanilla fudge and golden syrup are wrapped in charred oak, a touch of white pepper and bright orange peel. Cereal notes emerge with creamy toffee, roasted hazelnuts and a whiff of freshly baked apple pastries.

Finish – Warming, spicy finish with notes of baking spice, vanilla pods and a twist of citrus.
