A celebration of the man behind the earliest known written record of Scotch whisky. In 1494, Friar John Cor, a monk at Lindores Abbey, was commissioned by King James IV to produce Aqua Vitae. This historic royal commission is widely recognised as the earliest written reference to whisky production in Scotland, making Lindores Abbey one of the most significant sites in Scotch whisky history. The 2026 release of Lindores Friar John pays tribute to that remarkable legacy. Fully matured in Ruby Port casks and bottled at 52.5% ABV, this limited release continues Lindores Abbey Distillery's celebration of its unique place in the story of Scotch whisky.

Mahogany in colour. The nose is rich and inviting, with mellow dates, dark raisins wrapped in chocolate, figs and berry jam, complemented by roasted nuts and warming cinnamon. On the palate, soft and beautifully textured, with rich strawberry jam, caramelised dates, dark sugar syrup and vibrant spices balanced by oaky vanilla, marzipan, roasted almonds and layers of dark chocolate. The finish is long and sweet, with warming notes of chocolate and spice.
