The Thompson Bros have produced some excellent, well aged North British bottlings of late, and this 34 year old, 1991 North British grain is a welcome addition. A beautiful label, showing a vintage map, is the 3rd iteration of 'An Edinburgh Dram'. We are big fans of this vintage, as our Royal Mile Whiskies Edinburgh shop opened in 1991. A nearly perfect match for our 35th anniversary.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – Demerara sugar and rich custard up front, backed by a playful sweetness reminiscent of fruit jellies. There’s a subtle rubbery note intertwined with a sawdust-like mustiness. Hints of stone fruit emerge with time, adding a ripe, juicy dimension.

Palate – A coating layer of honeycomb wax leads the way, followed by stewed plums and a touch of floral plum jam. The wood-driven character carries through from the nose, adding grip and complexity. The texture is satisfyingly oily, allowing the flavours to linger.

Finish – Honey on toast fades gently into zesty citrus pith, providing a slightly bitter counterpoint to the earlier sweetness. The woody notes remain but soften considerably, leaving a warm, balanced impression that encourages another sip.
