The Torabhaig single malt, produced by Mossburn Distillers, is made at the newest distillery on the Isle of Skye for nearly 200 years. Although heavily peated (77pm in the barley) the approach to fermentation and distilling centres on the idea of 'well-tempered peat', so the smoke is never dominant and always complimentary to other delicious flavours. It still captures an enticing coastal and lemony character, and is a highly impressive whisky at such a youthful age (2017 and 2018 vintages). Their commitment to transparency is admirable with ingredients and production details freely available on the packaging. Allt Gleann has firmly established Torabhaig as a new favourite distillery in our books, and we are delighted we have been able to secure consistent on-going supply after the initial rush at release.
