This cuvée is produced by Veuve Clicquot only from exceptional vintages in honour of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot-Ponsardin - La Grande Dame. Veuve (widow) Clicquot-Ponsardin is credited for the method of clarifying sparkling wine by riddling, and creating the Champagne house and brand that we know today.

2015 was a legendary vintage - the hottest ever recorded at the time. While the resulting summer droughts led to reduced yields, the arid conditions prevented mildew and rot, often negating the need for pesticides and fungicides. A cool august allowed the unusually rich fruit to retain acidity and bring balance the the finished wines.

Since the first vintage in 1972, created to celebrate the house's bicentenary, this cuvée is designed to express the complexity and potential of Pinot Noir, the variety closest to Madame Clicquot's heart. This vintage consists of 90% Pinot noir and 10% Chardonnay and has a dosage of 6 g/L.

The label for this vintage was designed by Italian artist, Paola Paronetto.

This solar vintage, while elegant and precise, offers fresh minerality with light floral notes of jasmine and acacia on the nose, which evolve into fruity notes of pear and clementine. As for the first sip, it envelops the palate with a delightfully subtle, silky texture. When it comes to food and wine pairing, La Grande Dame 2015 is the perfect match for Garden Gastronomy: a new, gastronomic experience inspired by La Grande Dame. A gastronomy straight from the garden, the best vegetables for the best grapes. Both assertive and sustainable in its luxury, Garden Gastronomy expresses itself through inverted dishes, where vegetables and fruits centre stage, while meat and fish are prepared like condiments.
