Whistle Pig started in 2007 with their founder Raj Peter Bhakta and Dave Pickerell (Master Distiller of Makers Mark Fame) decided they wanted to build a distillery in Vermont. Until they could do this (licensing and building a distillery takes time), they have been bottling rye whiskey from Canada and rye whiskey from Indiana US, and putting their own unique twists on these whiskies. This whiskey is 100% Canadian Rye and has spent 10 years maturing in new oak, and is finished in Bourbon casks.

Tasting Notes

Staff Tasting Notes

Nose – A big grainy feel is heightened by a rainy, earthy, oily and sweet nature lurking just underneath.

Palate – The sweetness comes through first quickly followed by the spicy rye. We also find acetone notes and a dry, peppery quality.

Finish – Very aromatic and perfumed at first and then turns doughy after a while.
