A limited 13 year old Lowland single malt from Auchentoshan Distillery, independently bottled by Duncan Taylor as part of its The Octave range.
Distilled in 2011, this whisky was matured for 13 years before being finished in a small Palo Cortado sherry octave. These compact casks provide increased interaction between spirit and wood, adding extra richness and spice while complementing Auchentoshan's naturally light and fruity character.
Expect a combination of orchard fruit, citrus and sweet malt alongside richer notes of caramelised fruit, toasted nuts and warming spice. The Palo Cortado influence brings added depth, with hints of dried fruit, gentle oak and savoury nuttiness developing across the palate.
The finish is warming and lingering, with fruit, spice and soft sherry sweetness remaining alongside a gentle oak character. Bottled at 54.7% ABV, this single cask release was limited to just 84 bottles.
