We are delighted to introduce this single cask Auchroisk from The Maclean Foundation. This 34-year-old Speyside single malt has been released to celebrate the Maclean brothers’ world record-breaking row across the full Pacific Ocean. There are only 248 bottles available of this single virgin oak cask whisky, exclusively through Royal Mile Whiskies.

As with previous Maclean Foundation whiskies, profits will fund clean water boreholes in rural Madagascar. Every bottle sold will provide at least one person with clean water for life. The Maclean Foundation was founded by the brothers and their father, legendary whisky writer Charles Maclean MBE. The brothers completed their row across the Pacific Ocean in August 2025 to raise over £1 million for clean water projects. These funds will provide clean water to over 40,000 people in Madagascar.

Tasting Notes

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – A mellow nose-feel, profoundly rich. The initial impression is a combination of sweet and savoury - perhaps pan seared foie gras with a madeira sauce, soon developing into crème brulee via McCowan’s Highland Toffee, now backed by thick creamy notes. The base notes are of sandalwood sawdust. Initially the scented wood advances with a drop of water, then joined by a hint of marzipan walnut sweets, - dipped in clear caramel and dark chocolate, topped with a walnut.

Palate – A soft and creamy mouthfeel and a sweet, centre palate taste throughout, finishing slightly tart (burnt toffee), long and gently warming with a faintly perfumed aftertaste (dried rose petals?). Same at reduced strength, now with a hint of dark chocolate in the aftertaste.
