Batch 3 of Hampden Estate's Pagos bottling is a hallmark release. It's their traditionally wild fermented, pot-still artisan crafted, high-ester Jamaican rum but fully matured in 16 sherry butts. The casks were sourced from Bodegas Fundador of Andalucia and some have previously held sherry for 30 years or more. Bottled at a hearty 52% with no added sugars or colour.
Sherry cask maturation is far more common in the whisky world, but Hampden Estates fruit forward, high ester profile aligns perfectly with the woody, aromatic influence and rich coulour contributed by the sherry casks.
