In 2023 Chairmans Reserve opened up the second edition of their Spice Lab competition to bartenders from around the world. Entrants pitched ideas for a new edition of Chairman's Reserve Spiced rum; using the 6 original spices, they were allowed to add three additional flavours to their recipe. They also had to create concepts for signature serves and activations.
The winners from Europe, USA and St Lucia came together to craft the final rum that would be released as Spice Lab No 2. They created a blend of unaged and 2 year old Coffey still rum, flavoured with spices including ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, bay leaf, prune and key lime. Only 1,608 bottles of this small batch spirit have been produced.
