A blended whisky named for King James IV’s mighty warship, The Great Michael, once the largest in Europe and flagship of the Royal Scottish Navy. Carefully chosen to mirror her strength and ambition, a 21-year-old grain whisky has been married with older Campbeltown malts and finished in second-fill bourbon barrels that once held heavily peated spirit . Presented as cask strength without chill-filtration or colouring. This bottling is one of the The Ephemera Collection from Mossburn Distillers & Blenders - a limited-edition, non-repeatable series featuring 12 rare, small-batch whiskies and rums. Crafted under the guidance of whisky maker Neil Macleod Mathieson, every bottle showcases unique cask finishes and custom labels that draw from obscure Scottish history and mythical folklore.

Tasting Notes

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – Discernibly aged but still fruity and fresh. Some candied fruit, apples, and a distant note of old dunnage warehouses, straw and maybe even malty digestive biscuits.

Palate – Fresh tobacco and sweet smoke, more candied fruit and a wonderful balance between the fruit and smoke. Diesel smoke (and that’s a good smell here!), a touch of milk chocolate and an hint of candy floss sweetness.
