Leith, in Edinburgh was once a hotbed of whisky blending activity, and the expert blenders at Woven Whisky aim to make it so once again. With Experience N.12 their intention was to craft a blended whisky to rival the complexity, depth of flavour and the experience you get from the finest single malt. They've combined single malts from three different highland distilleries with some nicely aged grain whiskies, then set them to marry for 45 days in two separate casks, a refill sherry butt and a hogshead that previously held peated whisky. The two casks are then combined to create a sumptuous dram full of floral, fruity notes and sweet smoke.
