Distilled at Caol Ila in 2011, this 14 year old Islay single malt Scotch whisky has been given a finishing period in a Moscatel cask before being selected and bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd at 52.4% ABV.

The Moscatel finish brings a rich, fruit-led contrast to Caol Ila’s characteristically smoky and coastal style. Sweet grape, ripe fruit and gentle spice meet maritime peat, citrus and mineral notes, creating a bold but balanced expression of the distillery.

Bottled at a generous strength, the Caol Ila 2011 Berry Bros. Moscatel Finish should offer plenty of intensity when enjoyed neat, while a few drops of water may reveal further sweetness and fruit beneath the smoke.

An intriguing choice for fans of independently bottled Caol Ila, wine-cask finishes and full flavoured Islay single malt whisky.

Aromas of sticky-sweet cola confectionery rise from the glass, entwined with dense red-fruit preserves and a hint of scorched caramel. The palate reveals Islay’s signature peat smoke, layered over indulgent, syrup-laden sweetness. Waves of jammy opulence and caramelised crust glide into a finish marked by lingering coastal smokiness.
