In 2017 independent bottler James Eadie replicated the Trade Mark 'X' blended whisky, basing the recipe as closely as possible on Mr Eadie's original 19th century ledger. Whilst they were delighted with the result, they were also keen to further explore the richer sherried notes present in older bottlings they had tried.
For this limited edition of Trade Mark X they re-racked twelve casks into first fill and refill Oloroso hogsheads for further maturation. They then selected the 4 best of these, added in a refill hogshead, and bottled at old Imperial 100 Proof (57.1%). The result is an old school sherried blend with an elegant peaty character. One of 1,800 bottles.
