Out of stock

A 40 year old single refill hogshead bottled for Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection, producing 150 bottles at cask strength.

Lowland distillery St Magdalene (aka Linlithgow) was a casualty in the raft of DCL closures enacted in 1983. The distillery was a prolific producer during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, in part due to it's prime location next to the Union canal and railway line. In modern times, there are very few bottlings of this light, fruity spirit available.

Nose – Clove-studded orange aromas combine with sweet red apple and a hint of grapefruit. Butterscotch develops alongside subtle coca powder and mature oak.

Palate – Sweet, smooth citrus fruit flavours are balanced by subtle black pepper. Poached pear comes to the fore, leading to walnut and subtle marzipan.

Finish – Full and spicy with lingering aniseed.
