Distilled at St. Kilian in 2017, this six year old German single malt whisky was produced using unpeated spirit and matured in Moscatel cask number 5161 before being selected and bottled by Adelphi at 59.7% ABV.
The nose combines orange blossom, honey and apricot with cherry liqueur, soft mushroom notes and the spiced sweetness of Dr Pepper. The Moscatel cask has given the whisky a rich and unusual character while retaining the individuality of the St. Kilian spirit.
The palate offers fig jam, chocolate raisins, burnt orange and sandalwood, accompanied by a savoury touch of truffled mozzarella. The finish is short but intense, leaving behind plenty of complexity, fruit and spice.
Only 687 bottles were produced, making this a distinctive single cask release for fans of German whisky, Moscatel cask maturation and powerful world single malt whisky.
